Theory of Constraints (TOC) -  Distribution

The Theory of Constraints for distribution is centered on the Vendor Management Inventory (VMI) pull-system of inventory management.  Most client organizations oscillate between the pressure of having to hold too much inventory to protect sales and wanting to hold less inventory to minimize expenses.  The system tends to reach a balance point that reflects a compromise.  We work with our clients to help their clients ensure a high level of performance while reducing their cost of inventory through a VMI process.

   TOC – Distribution - Overview

Length

This is designed to be a very introductory overview of the TOC Distribution replenishment method. By first understanding the core conflict in holding either too much or not enough inventory, the participants learn how establishing a dynamic buffer management system helps avoid the cost of obsolescence and minimize the economic cost of lost sales.

TOC – Distribution - Operations Leader

Length

Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR) is the TOC Solution for scheduling in a repetitive or job-shop manufacturing environments. During the two day course the Participants will learn what Drum-Buffer-Rope is, why it is needed, how to create a DBR Schedule and how DBR can work in the current business system. The classroom environment replicates a generic organization by the use of computer simulations to illustrate DBR concepts.
